“Corporate Governance in times of structural crises. What is the role of external advisors?”
On 4 June, an EAI-webinar was celebrated specially addressed to our Spanish speaking members. The topic was “Corporate Governance in times of structural crises. What is the role of external advisors?”. This topic was developed by Mrs. Àngels Roqueta and Mrs. Wafe Khlif, who were presented by Emili Coll, our member in Barcelona (Spain). Mrs. Roqueta showed us the structure of the corporate governance in an average company, enumerated the functions of the different levels of institutions (the general assembly, the board of directors and the managers) and highlighted those that are responsibility of the board of directors. She also spoke about the role and contributions that an external advisor like us can offer to the governance system in the context of a crises. Mrs. Khlif for her part, introduced us to a deep reflection about the role of the company’s board. Beyond the aspects that are usually discussed within, traditionally related to the company’s performance, should the board also address other issues such as those related to the impact of the company’s activity in its environment and stakeholders? An interesting debate moderated by Leopoldo Rios, our member in Florida (USA), and Emili Coll followed the intervention of the speakers.
